Court records are documents generated during legal proceedings, such as criminal case files, bankruptcy records, and records from family or probate court. They contain information about proceedings, including names of the parties involved, dates of hearings, testimony and evidence, and rulings in cases. Court records are kept in office for a period of time and then disposed of or archived. Lisa Posthumus Lyons is the current County Clerk and Amy Doering is the Chief Deputy County Clerk.

Kent County court records may be accessed in several ways. Many court records may be searched for online. These include criminal cases since 2018 and civil cases dating to 1987. These may be searched using the name of the plaintiff, defendant, attorney, and/or business involved in the case. There is also a file year range to narrow the search.

Copies of records may also be requested from the County Clerk’s office. Requests should provide the name, phone number, and address of the person making the request and as much of the following information as possible: the full name of the plaintiff, defendant, or business involved in the case and/or any other names case could be filed under; the case number; and the date range when filed. The office is open weekdays from 9am to 4pm.
